Larry and Deirdre Solari

"As a former athlete, I know the value of lessons learned on the field. As a businessman, I also know that we must provide the very best we can for our players, coaches and staff in order to attract the talent we need to sustain and grow Spartan football."

John Hopkirk and Anne Murphy

"Hopefully our donation will enhance Spartan football's chance to be a championship program and result in many more talented student-athletes proudly earning their diplomas from San José State University."

Kevin and Sandy Swanson

"We believe that on most campuses football is a major factor in fundraising and revenue generation for the entire campus. When you have a strong football program, you have a strong athletics program. Athletics really does change students' lives."

Steve and Cheryl Caplan

"We hope these gifts will enable San José State to continue its good work for future generations of students and student-athletes alike. We also wish to model philanthropic behavior for our family members, friends and future generations of Spartans."

Tom Thompson and Jane Bradley

"San José State provided my only opportunity for a good education at essentially no cost, and a great foundation to help me later earn a graduate degree. With the scholarship, we hope that students will have the chance to play football or basketball while earning a degree, just like I did."

Larry and Elaine Sparling

"We know how crucial the Spartan Athletics Center is for all the athletes at San José State. I like donating to student-athletes because we can tell how much it means to them to play their sport and get a degree from a great college."

Jim Carter

"Rebuilding the east side of this historic stadium will send a powerful message that Spartan Football is moving forward with pace and purpose. Our football alumni are a critical piece of our future success, and I hope this sends a message to Spartans everywhere."

Completed Projects

Spartan Golf Complex

The incredible Spartan Golf Complex is a fully lit facility that includes a driving range, short game area and putting greens. The driving range features 100,000 square feet of space on the main tee. It is 360 yards long with target greens and short iron practice targets. The short game area is 55,000 square feet of slopes and bunkers with bentgrass greens. Two other bentgrass greens make up the putting area, with 17,000 square feet.

Spartan Softball Stadium

After years of competing off campus the Spartan Softball Stadium became the permanent home for the softball program on April 27, 2018. The Spartans won the inaugural game against New Mexico that day and went on to sweep the final series of the year against the Lobos. Spartan Softball Stadium has a synthetic turf outfield with dirt infield. Permanent bleachers are scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2021.

Spartan Soccer Complex

Opened prior to the 2017 season, the Spartan Soccer Complex provides for a high-quality training and game-day environment for both the men's and women's soccer programs.

The fully-lighted facility hosted the Mountain West Women's Soccer Tournament in 2018, and has been used for World Cup team practices and MLS training sessions.

Spartan Tennis Complex

The Spartan Tennis Complex includes six competition courts with lighting, sound system, spectator seating and a full scoreboard. The complex also includes a seventh court, the Mubadala Stadium Court, which hosts the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic, a WTA event, over nine days every August.

The Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic is the longest-running women-only professional tennis tournament in the world and is the first stop of the US Open Series.

Spartan Beach

Spartan Beach features four sand courts in the heart of the South Campus Athletics Complex. University President Dr. Mary Papazian called it an "extraordinary next step for Spartan Athletics," upon cutting the ribbon on the facility in February of 2020. The Beach Volleyball team began its tenure at Spartan Beach with a victory over the University of Oregon.
